Vreemon race description:

Soul eaters.  Demons. Fiends.  These are words an outsider might use to describe the Vreemon.  A justified description perhaps, as the Vreemon are a race blessed with incredible longevity.  Longevity sustained through the life force of other sentient beings; consumed as you might enjoy a fine entrée at a restaurant.  To the Vreemon though, it is a necessity of their existence.  There is no underlying malice or vile intent to this behavior, it is simply a biological requirement of their bodies.  Just like eating a fine entrée at a restaurant.

Whatever their biological needs, none can deny their dominant influence throughout the known galaxy.  Their ageless wisdom makes them the most sought after military, financial, and even political advisors, and decades of experience make them unparalleled command officers.  It is not unheard of for Vreemon to live for centuries, and it would take a death wish for anyone to dare provoke such a being.

While not a prolific race, the Vreemon are driven by an extremely potent will to live.  There is no job or task beneath a Vreemon.  Every new experience, be it good or bad, sorrowful or uplifting, is almost fanatically pursued.  Of course a Vreemon will eventually gravitate towards tasks they personally find enjoyable, but the unstoppable desire to try anything and everything, at least once, is near universally present in the species.  Personal discovery and acquiring firsthand experience is a hallmark shared by nearly every Vreemon; many an interstellar adventure has begun with a Vreemon proclaiming "why not, I've never tried that before."

The loyalty of a Vreemon is almost beyond question, just as long as you make sure they don't get hungry.  Above all else, their need to feed colors their existence.  Some speculate that the Vreemon attitude, a somewhat spectacular and almost over exaggerated affirmation of life, is a direct byproduct of consuming the lives that they cut short.  Some believe that the Vreemon somehow steal the hopes, dreams, and desires of other sentient beings, but there is no scientific proof behind these accusations.  It is, however, why an outsider just might call them a race of soul eaters.
